The governor opines that the endeavor to legalize marijuana for recreational purposes in Florida through ballot measure shall be unsuccessful

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis heavily criticized the upcoming ballot measure that allows adult-use marijuana consumption within the state, citing its extremist nature and predicting its downfall on Election Day. He expressed concern that the passing of the adult-use marijuana initiative would lead to an absence of time, place, and manner restrictions that would ultimately result in the state, cities and towns emitting a strong scent of cannabis.

This commentary from the Governor comes after the state’s Supreme Court stated that the proposal met constitutional necessities. The measure will allow adult-use sales at registered medical marijuana treatment centers, and Floridians aged 21 and above may possess a maximum of 3 ounces of the substance. Despite the surveyors’ mixed results, there is a strong belief amongst industry professionals that this proposal will ultimately pass.

Although the inclusion of marijuana and abortion-rights initiatives on the same ballot could be a wildcard, given the state’s high-status standing as a crucial battleground state, with the Governor taking this particular initiative very seriously and with an unwavering stand against it.
